Okay, so I have been terrible this past week! I apologize big time!!! So I HAVE to tell about the skiing trip! It was a BLAST! The story is long but I am going to write EVERYTHING because it makes the story great! You guys might have to take a break while reading! It is long...I apologize!
So to begin the trip (or not even) on Friday morning VERY early, we had a fire drill at 3 AM. I was not a happy camper! ha We had to get up at 530 to catch the bus/metro then train so by the time we got back to the room there was only about an hour and a half left to sleep so it was upseting. After getting up, we caught the bus pretty easily. The metro was interesting. Everyone had gotten on and then when I was about to get on the door started to shut on my arm and it kept closing on it!!! I thought it was the end of me..ha! But it finally opened back up but I couldn't get on because it was jam packed so I had to catch the next metro, luckily everyone met me on that one at the next stop. THe rest of travel was fine we arrived in Rieti and it was pretty cool! Just a small, relaxing town! We traveled up to snow/ski resort called Terminillo, and it was so awesome! We couldn't ski but we had a pretty fun snowball fight and it was a blast!! There were 6 of us there But it was fun. Kurtis tackled me a few times but I got him back with a few good snowballs! ha But we travelled back to Rieti and had the longest dinner ever! But it was a pretty cool experience. It was called the Bistro and it was about 7-9 courses, wine (which was GROSS!), and the best desert ever!! The meal took 3 hours! THe typical Italian dinner...I thought I was gonna die! I like the AMerican way of eat the food and get outta there! But it was definitely and experience I wont forget! Kurtis then gave me a valentine's day card and I just have to share what it says to display his korny-ness! ha I quote, "Roses are red, Violets are blue, all I want to be is next to you." I laughed at it! But thought it was nice! haha
Finally, Saturday came and it was the BEST day ever! We went skiing! I was kinda nervous but it was a blast! I had a great time! It snowed all day while we were there and it was such a sight to see! I can't even explain it in words! As far as skiing goes -- it was wonderful and awesome! I started on the walking area hills and ate it a couple of times! THe first two times I wiped out and did a face plant on the second one. How I did it...I don't really know but I did! haha I then graduated to the bunny hill! I was SO nervous going up! But going down was pretty fun! I went slow and Kurtis was my instructor...he picked it up pretty easily. After I got the hang of it I was ready for a bigger and better hill! THe next one was long and I started going real fast on some parts! ha I only fell once though, so that was an accomplishment! The ski lift was crazy! First off, I was on a seat all by myself! Second I had NO idea what I was doing! haha Kurtis was infront of me so everything he did...I did! I was FREAKING out! And didn't know that the ski lifts stopped sometimes and yea...I thought I needed a new pair of pants! ha But I made it off thank goodness but I was definitely scared! We continued skiing for a long time and it was awesome! We skiied from about 9 AM - 430 PM and I enjoyed every second of it! It was well worth it and it wasn't even that expensive! For dinner we went pizza parading and found some good cheap pizza at 3 different pizza places! We found 1 euro pizza and one place was 1.50 euro..lame! ha It was awesome and cheap and filled me up after 2 peices!
The journey home on SUnday began at 10:40 and I was so sad to leave. But we arrived back on campus around 2 PM, after a LONG bus delay! It was then homework time and we had to write outlines for a Lit Trad paper. (literary traditions) We then just hung out the rest of the night and had dinner and what not. It was definitely a FUn weekend in so many different ways!
The school week now came and it wasn't too bad! Nothing too strenuous happening! Ashleys birthday was Monday and was sad that i had to miss it but we can celebrate when I get back to the states! On Tuesday we had a Theology mid-term but it wasn't too bad! We studies quite a bit for it so I felt like I was prepared! But we will see how he grades it...I'm still kind of nervous because there are only like 3 grades for each class! The rest of the week was relaxing. We went into Rome for Art and Architecture class on Wednesday and Thursday. Wednesday we went to the Roman Forum and it was FREEZING! Even our professor felt bad for us and she let us go kind of early but it was extremely cold but still pretty cool! On Thursday we went to the Colosseum and the Paletine Hill. They were both pretty amazing! I enjoyed it a whole bunch! On Thursday morning Kurtis woke up and couldn't lift his head and everyone came to the conclusion that it was some kind of insect bite because there was a red spot and also a big ol' knot by it. But he had to stay home from the trip which kinda stunk for him but I think we are going to go visit again so he can see it all. Nurse momma helped us out over the phone! She was a savior!! THanks mom! ha But other than that nothing too exciting!
The weekend finally came after classes on Friday (they were our first Friday classes). We didn't do much just kind of hung out on campus and relaxed. The weather was BEAUTIFUL! Definitely the best weather yet here but I could walk outside in shorts and a t-shirt and I did! ha We played some soccer and I finally got to play some volleyball! =] I was SO excited and didn't really have anyone to play with but just touching a ball made me all happy!!! We spend a lot of the day outside. Saturday night we went out to experience the Carnevale that occurs here in Roma towards the time of lent. I don't really understand and it wasn't anything too special but it was still fun!
SUnday we relaxed some more and studied and yesterday (monday) we had a lit trad midterm and it wasn't too bad...once again studied lots for it! THe midterm didn't seem too bad but we will see. On Monday though we had class and the played soccer for 2 and 1/2 hours and then worked out with Kurtis for an hour and it was AWESOME! =] Definitely got the workout in for the day! ha But the weather was nice so you can't stay inside on those days!
Today is here and we only had one class so it was kind of nice.
But sorry it is so long. I will try to put more updates in so that there isn't one lONG one like today!
Hope all is well in the states! I miss you all!!

Holy Cow!!!
WOW! I don't even know where to start! I'm not sure where I left off, last week was pandamonium!! Just crazy and busy! School has been keeping me busy with lots and lots of reading and we are beginning to have papers due and exams...getting kind of stressful BUT it is still Roma and it is still AMAZING! BUT I have to talk about my weekend experience in Barcelona because boy was it beautiful and fabulous and just an all around perfect weekend! There was a group of about 12 of us and it was pretty crazy!
It started on Thursday evening and we set out for Barcelona. Our flight took off at about 730 I believe and it was about and hour and a half. We landed and had to catch a bus to Barcelona because the airport we landed at was about an hour and fifteen minutes away from Barcelona. We finally reached our destination and the journey was just beginning! We had to find our hostel which was crazy! Maps and beings able to speak spanish goes a long way! Luckily, we had a couple of fluent speakers so it wasn't too ba!! So, we finally arrived and dropped our stuff off and set out to see the nightlife. It was pretty cool! We went to this place called Limbus and it smelt really weird (which I seem to realize that A BUNCH of Europeans do not smell lovely!) But anyways, we hung out there for a while and decided to head back and get some rest.
On Friday we decided to go on a long marathon walk! But it was pretty cool! We went to this cathedral that has been under construction for 100 years and is supposed to be finished in 2020. Afterwards we walked some more and went to the Gothic town which was pretty cool I have to say! It was a different place but still beautiful! We then walked down to the bays with the boats in it and it was beautiful and well worth the walk. After some down time and taking in of the view we decided to head back so we could take a quick nap and rest up for the night. Friday night we all hung out and tried to find some good Spaniard food that wasn't crazy expensive but we got tired of walking and looking so we stopped at the oh so yummy...McDonalds! YES, they have McDonalds in Europe!! haha It was an expensive mcdonalds though and I hope I don't have to eat there again!
Saturday was the best day EVER! We decided to take the metro that day because it was cheap and we would be able to see more! Our first stop was at the famous park with the Lizard. I'm not exactly sure what it was called but it was BEAUTIFUL! (the weather cooperated with us all weekend!) It was very high on a hill that we rode up about 7 flights of escalators to get to the top along with some walking! It was nuts cus they were in the middle of the sidewalks! After that stop we went to Camp New (Neu?) where the Barcelona soccer team plays and the stadium was HUGE! There was also a soccer store right by and the boys were like kids in a candy store! It was funny! We ate lunch around there and then got on the metro once more and headed down to this Castle. The closest stop was kind of far away and we walked up this mountain (the castle was on top of it) and it was AMAZING! The walk was extremely long but well worth it! Along the way we ran into the Olympics in Barcelona that was held in 1992. It was pretty cool to see it! We finally got to the castle (2 hours later) and boy was it a sight to see! It was absolutely stunning! I LOVED it! It was so beautiful and we were there for sunset and on one side was the ocean and the other was mountains! It was amazing! It started to cool off so we hopped on a bus ride down and got back and had dinner with the whole group! We finally got some Espania food and it was interesting to say the least! I got Paella with shrimp and oysters...it was just okay but I am glad that I tried it! The rice mixed with whatever was actually really good but the shrump and oyster part disgusted me! THey were whole shrimp and it was staring at me so I couldn't even try it! The oyster actually didn't taste bad but my mind freaked out so I couldn't eat it, but Kurtis took the musles out of the oyster and mixed it in with my rice to think that I wouldn't notice when I took a bite of one, but oh yea, I noticed! haha But anyways, Saturday night we just hung out at the hostel and got to bed early.
Sunday morning we got up at 645 AM and headed on the journey home at 715. Our flight was at 1015 but it got delayed and didn't land back at Roma until about 1230. We then rushed back to campus to drop our stuff off and head to the AS Roma vs. Genoa game. It was definitely a good game and Roma won 3-0. It was pretty cool! Finally, we came back and it was dinner time and boy was I excited for some free cafeteria food...SERIOUSLY! It was then time to just hang out and relax for a little bit.
It was definitely a GREAT weekend!
Today wasn't anything special just more classes and our weekly Monday night meetings (which suck by the way). Last week it lasted for 2 hours this week it lasted for 30 minutes so I guess we never really know how long they are going to be!
But it has been about 3 weeks since i have arrived and I can't believe it! It is definitely going by pretty fast thus far!
I hope all is well in the states but it is almost bedtime for me here!!
Miss all of yall and love yall and I will try and get up pictures as soon as I can! I took A TON of them so it will probably take me a while to upload them all!
Have a good week! I will try and update as much as I can, I know i have been slacking!!

Love yall!

I forgot to add: I played soccer with the guys today because the weather was nice and they were all surpised because I was actually kinda decent! haha AND I scored like 5 times!! Just thought I should let you all know! haha

Naples/Pompeii
Hey yall!
Well, what a weekend!! Things here haven't slowed down a bit but it has been pretty fun!! On Thursday was one of our friends birthday's so we went out to celebrate and we went to get some chinese food! It was actually pretty good and pretty cheap also! It was kind of nice to have something besides pasta, bread, and potatoes!
On Friday we headed off towards Naples. It was about a 2 hour drive I think...I'm not really sure but it wasn't too bad of a bus ride! When we got there we had sack lunches and ate on these steps outside of the Museum we were going to. I felt like such an American! ha With the big groups it is kind of hard to fit in as an Italian! But after lunch we went to the Museum and it was pretty cool! I learned a lot of neat things and just seeing some of these scupltures, mosaics and paintings are absolutely crazy! We spent abour 3 and 1/2 hours at the Museum and headed towards our sleeping place. It was an old Seminary and it felt more like a prison! ha But it wasnt aweful! We had a BEAUTIFUL view of the ocean and the Bay of Naples. We had dinner and a lecture and then we were free for the night until curfew which was midnight. So we went down by the bay and walked around and also got us some Pizza because we heard that Naples was the birthing place of pizza! Kurt and I shared a pizza named Mexico and it was pretty good. We didn't really know what was going to be on it because we can't read Italian but it was Alfredo cheese, beans, and I think onions. Not really sure! But it was pretty delightful! Oh and we had some Gilato!!
On Saturday we headed to Pompeii which was my favorite part of the trip! The city used to be covered in stone from the eruption of Vesuvious (the volcano nearby, which is still active). They started excavating a LONNG time ago and just seeing these things were crazy and it blew my mind! But it was awesome! No doubt about it! We then had time of our own and we were exhausted so a group of us hung out at this snack place and read our books! ha fun stuff! It was then time to come home and I was pretty excited! Especially to sleep in my bed!!! I never thought I would say that!
Sunday was a relaxing day. Just slept in, had some brunch, worked out and ran, and relaxed!! Sunday night though a few of us got tickets to the Milan vs. Lazio game. It was pretty cool! Those Italian people do love their soccer! ha But it was definitely an experience and I am glad that I went. I think the boys really enjoyed it as well! We got back around midnight and decided that it was time to head to bed!
That brings me here and I am just getting ready to head to classes! I have the 8 AM class off today but I get up for breakfast anyways and this is when I usually get stuff done if need be, review my notes for a quiz, or just relax a little bit before my day starts!
Hope all is well in the states. I heard the Steelers won the superbowl. Not sure if that is true or not, I haven't looked it up but I hope it was a good game!!
Love yall and miss yall!
